Ada Palmer composes and performs close harmony a cappella, and is the primary composer for Sassafrass. Her best-known musical project is a Viking-themed album "Sundown: Whispers of Ragnarok", whose songs, when put together, tell the story of the creation and destruction of the Norse cosmology focusing on the murder of Baldur. She is also a novelist, Campbell-award winning author of the Terra Ignota series from Tor Books, whose first volume Too Like the Lightning was a Hugo finalist and won the Compton Crook award. She teaches European history at the University of Chicago, blogs at exurbe.com, and grew up on the East Coast and has been a long-time member of the Filk community, especially at her childhood home con Balticon.
